Contractor accommodation in Warrington: what to look for
Where the work is around Warrington, how long the drive takes, and what a weeks-long work stay needs, from parking and a desk to beds for colleagues.

Warrington is a practical base for contract work in the North West. It sits halfway between Liverpool and Manchester, three motorways meet on its edges, and the big business parks are all a short drive from the town centre. Here is where the work is, how long it takes to get there, and what to look for in somewhere to stay for a few weeks.
Why Warrington works as a base
The M6, M62 and M56 all meet within the borough. The M6 runs north to south past the east side of town, the M62 crosses the north towards Liverpool and Manchester, and the M56 runs along the south towards Chester, North Wales and Manchester Airport. From the town centre you are usually on one of them within a few minutes.
The trains help too. Warrington Central is on the line between Liverpool and Manchester, with Liverpool Lime Street about 30 minutes away and Manchester Oxford Road about 25. Warrington Bank Quay is on the West Coast Main Line, with direct trains to London Euston and to Scotland, which makes the trip home at the end of the week simpler. Manchester Airport is about 25 minutes by car and Liverpool John Lennon about 30.
Where the work is
These are the main employment sites around the town. Times are rough drive times from the town centre outside the rush hour, so allow longer at peak times, particularly around the motorway junctions.
Birchwood Park (about 15 minutes)
North-east of the centre and close to the M6 and M62, Birchwood Park is home to around 165 companies in offices and warehouses, including a large group of nuclear-sector organisations. There is a gym and a café on the park, plenty of parking, and a free shuttle bus to Birchwood station at peak times on weekdays.
Omega (about 15 minutes)
West of town at junction 8 of the M62, Omega is a large business and logistics park. The council lists Amazon, ASDA, Travis Perkins, Brakes and THG (the Hut Group) among its occupiers. Next door, Lingley Mere Business Park is mainly offices and is where United Utilities is based.
Sci-Tech Daresbury (about 15 minutes)
South of town near junction 11 of the M56, just over the border in Halton, Sci-Tech Daresbury is a science and innovation campus built around the Science and Technology Facilities Council’s Daresbury Laboratory. More than 150 companies are based there, from start-ups to global firms, alongside the Hartree Centre, which works on high-performance computing and AI.
The town centre and the south
In town, Centre Park is an office park on the edge of the centre, close to Bank Quay station, and Warrington Hospital is about 10 minutes by car. If you’re there on a placement, see our post on staying near Warrington Hospital. To the south, the distribution and trade estates around Barleycastle Lane, near Appleton Thorn, sit close to where the M6 meets the M56, about 15 minutes away.
Our Warrington guide has a little more on each of the main sites.
What a weeks-long work stay needs
A hotel room is fine for two nights. Over a month, small things start to matter. This is what we’d look for.
- Parking. If you’re driving a van or carrying tools, you need somewhere to leave it. The Stylish Central Warrington Stay has free parking. If parking matters for the 2-bed flat, ask us before you book.
- A real kitchen. Eating out every night gets tiring. A hob, an oven and a table to eat at make packed lunches and a proper evening meal easy. The 2-bed flat has a hob, oven, microwave and toaster, and the other apartment has a fully equipped kitchen.
- A desk and reliable Wi-Fi. Timesheets, drawings, reports and video calls don’t stop because you’re away. The Modern 2-Bed Flat has a dedicated workspace as well as a dining table, and fast, reliable Wi-Fi.
- Beds that suit colleagues. Two workmates rarely want to share a double. Both bedrooms in the 2-bed flat can be made up as a double or a twin, so four colleagues can have two twin rooms.
- A second bathroom. When everyone needs to be out of the door at the same time, one bathroom means a queue. The 2-bed flat has two.
- Self check-in. Late finishes and long drives mean arriving after office hours. The 2-bed flat has a lockbox at the entrance, so you can let yourselves in. Check-in is from 15:00 and check-out is by 11:00.
- Shops and a gym nearby. From the 2-bed flat, ASDA is about 5 minutes’ walk, PureGym about a minute and JD Gyms about 5.
Apartment, hotel or digs?
Crews usually weigh up three options, and each suits a different kind of job.
A hotel is easy for a short job. Someone else does the cleaning and breakfast is downstairs. Over several weeks, though, it means a room each, nowhere to cook, meals out most nights and nowhere to sit together and plan the next day.
Digs, a room in someone’s home or in a shared house, can work for one person on a long job. You share the kitchen and bathroom, live by the house rules, and it is hard to keep a whole team under one roof.
A serviced apartment gives a small crew the whole place: separate bedrooms, a shared living room, a kitchen and one booking to manage. There’s no reception desk, so check how arrival works and who to call if something needs sorting.
For a small team on a job that lasts weeks rather than days, an apartment is often the easiest of the three to live with.
